A few years ago I used our summer holidays for the first time as a chance to detox: we improved our family wellbeing a lot, because we established rituals and reminders that help us handle the unexpected turns that life can take.
Now that we’ve completed the school year of our daughter and haven’t been outside of The Netherlands for almost a year (!!), it’s time for a proper break to reset and recharge.
Coming back to The Netherlands after so many years living abroad and traveling, has definitely been challenging for me and my family.
I’m not sure it’s the fact that we live in Eindhoven, which is the Silicon Valley of Europe, but for me this Brainport region has definitely been a struggle.
Trying to connect with people and be more present in conversations is something I value very much, but is one thing that is hard to find in this city.
Online seems to be more interesting than offline…
Making efforts to really listen and be compassionate for someone else’s life story is not easy to experience here in Eindhoven.
There never seems to be enough time to pause and reflect.
Everyone is always on the go.
Making money is TOP priority and feels like never enough.
There’s a constant pressure to perform
A constant stress to make it
So we’re checking out for a while…
Leaving The Netherlands to re-focus on our family wellbeing.
Time to detox again…
I’ll be sharing some of our journey via email, so if you’d like to follow along, just sign up for the newsletter.
Wishing all of you a wonderful summer 💚🌿
